Sony PSP NGP is the next generation of PSP – Specs, Price, Release Date, Photos

UPDATE: SONY NGP is SONY PS Vita. Price and availability here. Sony PSP2 codename “NGP” or “Next Generation Portable” is the new kid of the block. It’s the latest new breed of Sony’s portable gaming console to hit the shelves on this upcoming holiday season. Specs and date of release are listed below:

  • Quad-Core ARM Cortex A9 Processor
  • Quad-Core Power SGX543MP4+ Graphics
  • Rear Capacitive Multi-touch pad
  • Front and Rear camera
  • Stereo Speakers and Microphone
  • Wi-Fi and 3G + WiFi versions
  • Gyroscope, Accelerometer, Compass
  • GPS, with Wi-Fi GPS
  • Two Analog sticks, D-dpad, control keys
  • 5″ capacitive multi touchscreen, 960 x 544 pixel resolution
  • Date of release: Q4 of 2011

The Sony PSP NGP will not support UMD functions just like your current PSP. So you will get your contents from Sony Live Store and the game distribution is also said to be via “a small flash memory based card”. And there are no other information regarding the storage itself. Source
