Where to get micro-SIM for your Nokia N9, Apple iPad & iPhone 4S in Philippines

When my Nokia N9 had arrived last couple days I was not able to hooked it up with any of my SIM cards (miniSIM) because of the different SIM adapter sizes. Like with the Apple iPad, iPhone 4S or iPhone 4, the Nokia N9 also sports a microSIM. A smaller version of the standard SIM card size we have now and it’s quite hard to find one if you’re new on this term.

The issue here is that, currently, network providers have limited micro SIM card retailers nationwide. And it’s quite hard on getting one if you’re not living within the NCR region. More especially if you’re new to mircro SIM term. So how and where you could get a micro-SIM if you’re a new user of it?

There are two choices for you get the microSIM (either GLOBE, SUN Cellular or SMART or RED Mobile):

1.) Buy microSIM from big network retailers – you can easily get microSIM if you’re living in area of NCR where large and big network retailers reside. Price is P40.00 for all any type of network you chose.

2.) Cut or Punch your own Micro SIM or look for some gadget stores with Micro SIM cutting service – If there are no other network retailers available in your place with micro SIM then it is still easy to get one.
If you have a micro SIM Puncher there, you could buy one for 200-400 price range available online, then you’ll just need to spend on buying new SIM Card (not microSIM of course) which you will be punching into the size of micro SIM. I do not suggest on cutting or punching old SIM Cards as it have different circuit panel size, instead go for a new one.

And if you’re quite unfortunate of not having a puncher and can’t find any network retailer with micro SIM available then all you need to do is go to gadget or cellphone shop with punching service. Punching service fee ranges from P50-150 pesos plus you need to buy a new SIM at P40 but it’s okay if you already have one. Just be careful on cutting or punching it by not including the chip or circuit of the SIM.

After that, just insert or pop the micro SIM into your phone then you’re good to go. :)

Update: Nokia Lumia 800 also supports micro SIM. Watch out for the release of the device on December.
