Proporta provided me a free external turbo charger last year but I was so lazy and eventually forgot to review it. But, well, better late than never. So finally here’s my Proporta USB Turbo Charger 3400.

Capacity

Proporta USB TurboCharger 3400 is an external and emergency mobile charger for wide variety of gadgets such as mobile phones, digital cameras, and gaming consoles like your PSP and Nintendo DS. It is pack with 3400mAh battery capacity, so, in practical use with current smartphones you could fully charged up to two or several times, depending on your gadget battery capacity.

Ports & Design

The kit is loaded with several adapters and connectors including retractable cable, 30-pin port for iPhone/iPod, Nokia pin, SonyEricsson, DS Lite, PSP (optional but free), miniUSB and microUSB. Other than that USB-to-USB or USB-to-Any ports are supported because the output port of the charger is USB. You can charge your Proporta Charger 3400 to your computer USB port or USB supported power adapter using the miniUSB pin connector (input of charger) and retractable USB cable that are included on the kit.

You can carry the Proporta charger like as your standard mobile phone because it’s lightweight and small enough for pockets. LED lights are present to know the battery status and there is a power button below it. Pouch is included so you can carry the charger with its connectors.

Charging in and out

Both output and input of the Proporta charger are DC operated. Rated power rating for input or charging your Proporta is 2.5 watts, and mostly mobile chargers with USB port compatible are on that range and your computer’s USB ports too. For charging gadgets, the output is 3.85 watts which supports most digicams, smartphones, and portable gaming consoles. Tablets are not supported due to the higher demand of power input such as iPad.

The downside so far is the period of charging the Proporta charger as it would take 4 hours to 6 hours on filling it. But charging period for gadgets using your Proporta charger is not a problem as it would only take couple of hours depending on the capacity of your gadgets.

Why it is not for you

If you always stay on your home or in office, and with one gadget only, for example, a mobile phone, then it’s not a must to have an external charger just like this Proporta TurboCharger 3400. Why? Because it would be awkward to charge via an external charger while power sockets surrounds you.

Why this is for you everyone

This Proporta charger is a great backup for your gadgets in case of emergency and most especially for outdoor activities. It is very mobile and the price tag of $39 is reasonable to have it. Check for price and availability here.
